ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION: PREVALENCE, TREATMENT AND CONTROL OF THE DISEASE

Arterial hypertension is a prevalent chronic condition globally and a significant risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. This narrative review article explores the prevalence, treatment methods, and control strategies for arterial hypertension. Studies published between 2010 and 2023 in databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, SciELO, and LILACS were reviewed. Inclusion criteria considered the relevance of the articles and methodological quality. The analysis points to the need for effective public health interventions and personalized therapeutic approaches. It concludes that multidisciplinary strategies and health policies are essential for controlling hypertension, improving quality of life, and reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with the disease.
